Does Psychological Treatment Work?

Does psychological treatment work?
There is now good evidence that psychological treatments are effective in treating depression, particularly mild to moderate depression. Mild depression generally responds very well to supportive therapy which is widely used by doctors, psychologists and other members of the health-care team.

Cognitive behavioural therapy (which is often combined with supportive therapy) has been assessed in a number of trials and shown to be effective in patients with moderate depression, usually in combination with antidepressant medication.
