Facts about Panic Disorder

About 1-2 % of people in Australia will suffer from Panic Disorder within any given year. The identification of Panic Disorder is complicated by the fact that some people may experience less severe forms, e.g., isolated or subclinical panic attacks. These conditions may be even more common than Panic Disorder.

Both forms of Panic Disorder are more common in women. Compared to men, women are twice as likely to be diagnosed with panic disorder without agoraphobia and three times as likely to be diagnosed with panic disorder with agoraphobia.
