Understanding suicide
Suicide is rarely discussed, yet many people attempt to kill themselves every year. Tragically, some 'succeed'.

What drives them to this self-destructive act? Research indicates that people who commit suicide are trying to put an end to intense emotional pain. Suicidal thoughts are common symptoms of depression, and depression is implicated in 50-75% of suicidal deaths.

Alcohol is involved in about 25% of suicides. It reduces inhibitions and increases the tendency to act impulsively, as well as making depressed feelings even worse.
