Depression

The symptoms of the depressive phase of bipolar disorder are the same as in major depression.

Sometimes people experience repeated episodes of depression, with only minor and less troublesome upswings or hypomania. This type of bipolar disorder is called bipolar II disorder to distinguish it from bipolar I disorder which has severe manic episodes.
