Symptoms and diagnosis of Generalised Anxiety Disorder
Some people with generalised anxiety disorder experience just a few of the symptoms, while others feel overwhelmed by them. The key signs are anxiety, worry and tension that are difficult to control and have lasted for at least 6 months. In addition people with generalised anxiety disorder have at least three of the following symptoms:

muscle tension
   
tiredness
   
difficulty concentrating
   
irritability
   
sleep disturbance.



Other features can include:

symptoms of muscle tension, including trembling, twitching, feeling shaky, and muscle aches and soreness
   
physical symptoms such as clammy hands, dry mouth, sweating, nausea or diarrhoea, an increased need to urinate, trouble swallowing, and an exaggerated response to being surprised.
